Josie & Mike's September Wedding at Parklands, Quendon Hall in Essex

For Josie and Mike, I think booking us was one of the easier wedding decisions they had to make! Having had first hand experience with us for a pregnancy, newborn and a cake smash shoot with Rachel, then seeing us in action at both of Mike’s brother and Sister’s weddings, when we sat down to show them our work, I think they had already made up their minds! Still, we were really excited when they confirmed the booking as they are such an amazing couple and we knew it would be a fantastic day!

Arriving to a beautiful sunny day at Parklands, Quendon Hall (one of our absolute favourite venue’s!) it didn’t take us long to track down both the couple and their young family of 4 all getting ready for the day ahead. You couldn’t have asked for better weather and everyone was really excited! I met Josie upstairs finishing off her make-up and rocking the hair rollers, whilst Mark met with Mike and the boys in room 1. The morning whizzed by and we creatively captured the events as they unfolded, and before we knew it, Josie was stepping into her beautifully fitted wedding dress and Mike was outside meeting his guests as they seated outside, ready for the ceremony.

I remember being alone with Josie for a few minutes upstairs and she admitted how nervous she was! She’d held it together so well all morning, getting everyone organised and ready and I guess it suddenly hit home. Months of planning all coming together, but it was so incredibly worth it as everything went smoothly and the the day was a huge success for all.

The sun shone down on Josie and Mike as they were officially married under the pergola at Parklands, infront of all their family and friends. Then everyone joined the happy couple around the fountain infront of the house and deer park for a very warm and sunny afternoon! Canapes included mini ice cream cones (what a fantastic idea?!) and after a few family formals, we whisked Josie & Mike away for some portraits of them alone before returning them back to their guests and their wedding breakfast in the marquee.

I don’t know if it’s because we have history with these guys or whether it was just such a relaxed and enjoyable day, but I found myself laughing at the speeches and getting goose bumps for 1st dance. We felt a real connection with Josie and Mike and so incredibly lucky to have shared their journey with them, not just for the wedding but every other shoot we’ve done with them to mark the special occasions in their lives!

As with all weddings we try and find new locations for shots and having wracked our brains for the last week on a new location at Parklands, we pulled off one of my favourite night shots, shooting through the window into the drawing room. I love this image, not just because of the technically difficult aspects of it, but also the people who are in it and how it reflects them as a couple.

We have so many amazing images to share from this day but we’ve narrowed it down to just a few. I love the moment captured by Mark of one of the boys straightening Mike’s tie. I adore the pictures of Josie’s Dad seeing her for the first time and the expressions on everyone’s faces as he came in. And of course, there are many beautiful images and moments caught between Josie and Mike, who were an absolute joy to be with and to photograph on their big day.

Huge congratulations to Josie, MIke and their gorgeous family! We hope you love your images and we can’t wait to see you again soon! xxxx
