Leanne & Chris' Wedding at Downhall Hotel in Hertfordshire

In the days running up to Leanne & Chris’ wedding, I could sense Leanne’s panic that it was going to rain on their big day! Of course rain is a possibility at any time of the year, but when you’ve booked the middle of July, there should be less chance of it raining….right?!

Unfortunately, this July has seen some of the wettest days so far, but as we say to all of our lovely clients - don’t stress about it, embrace it and we’ll give you some killer pictures, which will make the most of whatever weather comes our way!

The day started off hopeful, with a bit of sunshine and I arrived to Leanne in mid hair and make-up, who’s first question was about the rain! :-) “Don’t worry!” I told her, knowing that there was nothing we could do to change it and that we were also at one of the nicest venues in the county, where I’m happy to shoot indoors even when it’s glorious outside!

And so the day flowed from there! Leanne chilled out in the safe and capable hands of her hair and make-up team (Albina Occasion and Bridal Hair), I had a blast with the guys who were completely chilled out and the happy couple got married and spilled outside for their reception drinks and canapes until the rain started and we all moved a few feet under cover of the pillars, where the wedding continued in full flow!

As I proofed this wedding I had to laugh at the couples spontaneous laughter and reactions to each other throughout the pictures! I have so many “outtakes” of them literally killing themselves laughing at the more “serious” poses I’d asked of them and I just loved them all, so this blog features both!

So, we didn’t go far into Downhall’s gorgeous gardens because of the pesky rain, but I did persuade them out after their meal when it had calmed to a drizzle and while they stayed safe and dry under the umbrella, we rocked out some great shots at the back of the hotel over the fountain, and then again later out the front of the hotel in the slightly heavier rain! (I got pretty wet this time, but they stayed dry!).

A fantastic day, with the help of a great wedding team including the Downhall wedding team, Mark Greatbatch (Toastmaster) who definitely made my day easier and got people organised for me, Stacey Stevens (designer flowers), The fabulous Hair and Make-up team Albina Hunt, who positioned themselves so nicely infront of the window and made my shots so easy, not to mention did a beautiful job (https://www.facebook.com/sarahcatherallmua/), Anthony from Spotlight Wedding films who was great company as always, and Lovelight who got the party started and provided the cool lighting for 1st dance and evening! I hope you enjoy just a few favourites from Leanne & Chris’ amazing day! Love Rachel x)
